By MOAA Staff A Pentagon memo orders leading authorities to "make optimum usage of military spouse work flexibilities," a move which could open more opportunities to a chronically underemployed labor force and help strengthen the financial well-being of military families. While education and job-training programs remain critical to military spouse support, these actions show the department's commitment in a more useful type one that appreciates the abilities of these spouses, and one that sends a strong message to the private sector about their worth as employees.

Eryn Wagnon, previous MOAA Director of Government Relations and present head of the Pentagon's new Workplace of Partner Employment, clarified that this arrangement mandates DoW firms to think about "alternate firm worksites (consisting of go back to workplace exemptions) for DoW milspouse workers who are PCSing." This policy reenforces the department's commitment to the retention of military partners.
